Default Proud Grandpa

I have mentioned on here a few times that my grandson is a Line backer on the U of A Golden Bears and this has been a great year for him. He was named Canada West defensive player of the year and now U Sports has named him winner of the President's Trophy for all of Canada. He also earned a Community Service award from U of A as well, and is an All Canadian academically, so to say how proud we are of him is an understatement. He has some tough decisions in the near future but we know he will continue forward. The Community Service award is also a high point as it's not freely given. All can be googled on the U web. #24

Congrats Grandpa for giving your part of the gene pool of success. I'm sure he will succeed in all his endeavors in the future. Hell he could be our next leader in the political realm. He has my vote already. Wish him the best with his life's adventures. Definitely an "A" one role model who will inspire the young ones coming up in sports and how to get involved with community. Great accomplishment on his part and I'm sure some of your part for confidence and structure of being and doing his best. AWESOME

Many thanks for your comments and to Randy for posting the Sun write up. To add to this I can also say we have been very lucky to follow him and his brothers lives to this point as my daughter got married the same year my wife and I moved back to Alberta after 34 yrs in the Forces. Many trips to Edmonton occurred as all three boys were active. We watched the youngest with the Sabre Cats, Rams and then Bev Facey where he was also named MVP. The oldest excelled at basketball and earned a first year scholarship to U of A as well. Two collapsed lungs in a short period of time ended his competitive days. Middle guy rose to the top in as an Army Cadet and was a top cadet shooter in Bisley. All three were in University at the same time and RESP's, their working contributions, and earned scholarships got them through with no debt. Oldest boy is a CPA with Masters degree and middle guy has a degree and heading towards Social work. The driving force for all they do are a couple of the best parents any youngster could have. Mom volunteered for Emergency service during covid and has been on several medical trips to Latin America through their church. Son in law was a solid role model for them. I guess what I'm trying to say in this lengthy diatribe is that this whole family has made us very proud.
