Default Finally got my buck of a lifetime

Well after 17yrs of hunting I finally got my buck of a lifetime.I got him on Saturday the 24th at 4:00pm.He was standing by himself at 100yds and once i realized it wasn't a mule I quickly took the shot as he ran away.I shot through some brush but I had to take the shot.I hit him in the flank as he quartered away and it came out his shoulder on the far side.Right after the hit he was wobbling as he went around the bush.So I thought at least I got a bullet in him and i would have to leave him until morning. But I couldn't wait so I told my dad to wait with my little guy and I would just go check around the bush he went around.Once I got around the bush I could see him piled up,he only went about 40yds after the shot.I didn't know he was that big until I walked up to him.He has 16 scoreable points, eight on each side and a main frame 6 x 6.He grossed 196 and as a 6x6 he was 186 7/8 and nets 181 4/8.I shot him with my .35 whelen with a 200gr tsx

Beautiful buck! I love those heavy, symetrical typicals.

I wouldn't call it a "buck of a lifetime" though.

If you are a "trophy hunter" you have to believe that each year you do have a chance of taking a bigger buck than you took last year.
