Default Sylvan Lake

Went to sylvan last night for about three hours. Fishing was pretty slow but managed one nice pike around 20. Sorry about quality and profile.

Default Damn,..

That's a nice Pike !

I for one, cannot believe the size of the Fish in that Lake !

Simply put,.... there are some MASSIVE PIKE in that body of water ! While we were there I saw the BIGGEST fish that I have EVER seen in Fresh Water. It was only about a foot or so Under the water and came out directly from beneath the boat and clearly wasn't in too big of a hurry either. If I was to guesstimate, I would say that PIKE was easily over 44" in length ! It was absolutely MASSIVE. We saw another 2 Pike that were Easily over 20lbs and another that we spooked that left an ENORMOUS 'boil' on the water with bubbles the size of your 'fist'.

Also, I don't think I have EVER seen so many 'Whitefish' ! Man, there were literally Hundreds and 'thousands' of them at the bottom swimming around. No wonder the PIKE are so friggin' HUGE ! What a bizarre trip !

Cheers,

/FC...

Sylvan definitely has some big fish in it but if you want a good chance at landing a trophy pike go to Newell or Gull they are much better pike fisheries. Sylvan is good for walleye and whitefish in my opinion.

I've always heard that Fishing Gull was a 'Hit or Mostly Miss' kinda thing... Never fished it but was told that was the case by a few people. I've heard that Newell is likely one of the best bodies of water for REALLY big pike.

Any tips for Newell or Gull ?

Cheers,

We catch jack every year between 15-22# out of sylvan. Not in great numbers by any means but they are definately there.Lot's of small walleye an some good perch in the winter. I've never had that good of luck at gull on anything other than whitefish and burbot in the winter.
