Default Fishing the Shuswap

Hey guys i was just head out to fish the shuswap and was just wondering what i should use for gear. I was thinking of getting the Diawa Luna 300 for a reel and a St. Croix Turnament MH rod with 20lb mono backing with 18Lb lead core line. what do you guys think does this sound okay? Also for a leader should i just use say 20Lb fluro?

Thanks any help would be greatly appreciated

Go into Westside Stores in Salmon Arm and talk to the boys. They will help you out.

Just came back from there.. Caught a few fish.. see my other posts.

Apex lures 3 inch. Silver and black and white seem to be working

20 lb test at least.. Mono or thread

Down riggers with 10 lb cannons. Caught rainbow and lakers at least 50 feet down

Rod: we were using Dawia's with line counters. Can't remeber the make as they were not mine but, they where beefy!

What I have always used are White and Black or White and Green bucktails, 2-3" silver spoons or spinners, or 3" deep sinking Rapalas. We have used downriggers, and at this time of year, you will likely need them. 40-70ft of water. I do know some guys are slime lining still and it is still working. Either way talk to the guys at Westside. They will help you.

I most often used an Abu Garcia open faced setup with 10-12lb test and never had issues. You can hook into some big lakers so be aware.
