Maybe another bullet or powder-your rifle may not like the Interlocks. 180gr Accubonds are my medicine with RL22 out of my Sako m75ss 300WM.

How did any factory ammo shoot?

200 grain NAB's work for my brother, mine does decent with 180's.

Just gotta put in the time and play with a few different mixes, I might try 168 TTSX's next to try and tighten things up.

I went through several loads/Bullets before I found what worked in my 300 Win Mag
Model 695. First of all get rid of the Interlocks. Cheap bullets isn't necassary way to go. I had Interlocks flying all over the place. And too hot of load wasn't workin either. What I ended up with is 180Gr. Nosler Partition or Berger VLD 185Gr.with 75Gr. of Hodgson H4831SC. Took some experimenting to get there but it shots great and long. I now have it dialed right in and know where my gun is shooting at all distances.
Hard to comprehend the difference between the loads/bullets until you go through it.
Be patient, let the gun do the work. Good Luck!!

Default 300 win mag trouble.

just my two cents here,i would try 180 gr nosler accubonds.i use them in my 30-06 and i was grouping 3/4'' at 100 yrds with 55 gr of imr 4831.i also use the accubond in my 338 win mag, found a max load from the book was my besgt accuracy and was not even hurting my brass at all.try hodgen 4831sc powder too.i started my loading at mid point in the book and worked up in 1 gr increments to max loading.

ArcheryGuy, there is nothing wrong with Hornady Interlocks. Ypou don't need to shoot bullets that are $2 each to get good accuracy and performance. Hornady makes very accurate bullets and the Inerlocks hold together real well on game.

I load for a number of 300s, 74 grains of IMR 4350, under a 150 or 165 grain Hornady Interlock, and a CCI mag primer, LOA 3.360. A load within .5 grain either way has shot under an inch in 8 300 mags. (This is a close to max load, depending on which book you read, so work up to it carefully.)

If your gun won't do at least 1" with that load, I would start looking at crown, bedding, trigger etc because poor groups aren't always an issue with the load you are using. Post back and let us know how you make out.

It's all a matter of finding a load that your gun likes. It may be as simple as changing the seating depth, or changing to another powder. However, I have come across some guns that just would not group certain bullets well, no matter what load combination I tried.

Agreed, I've had great performance from the plain jane Interlocks. If they don't work for you move on. I will admit to an appreciation of the tsx, ttsx line though, both on paper, and game.

yes I agree that the hornady interlock is a good bullet.I have used them in my 25-06 with a 117 gr hornady interlock.I shot a deer face on at 150 yrds out and it hit so hard i thought i missed till he fell down the hill.It took out his heart and one lung entering through hid brisket and coming out by his left hip. They are very distructive.I have also used the 180 gr accound in my 30-06 and dropped a mosse at 250 yrds and the bullet weighted 124 gr after I retreived it from the chest cavity. It took out a lung and the heart.the accubonds hold up 95% of their bullet weight after impact.if you are after a cheap good penetrating bullet, try thr hornady interbond. It is very close to the accubond and usually about $45 for a box of 100 instead of $50 for a box of 50.

my browning A-bolt 300 win mag likes anything with RL 22 powder, shooting cheap sierra's or the expensive barnes to a 1/4 inch.

Hornady SST's and interlocks for me .. very accurate and plenty of penetration with 69 gr. of IMR 4350.. find no need to go to the expensive Barnes , etc.

Wow 5 full grains of powder difference, whats the velocity drop between the 2? just curious....

I have always had the best luck with RL22 in my .300WM.

Hey Archerguy, there is Defiantly no reason to spend $2 on a bullet. That would not be reasonable. Just to give you an idea the VLD bullets that I use are .40 cents. No where near $2. So don't let anyone tell you that you need to spend that kind of money or feed you crap.
It is going take some or maybe even a lot of shooting to get it figured out. Again good luck!!
