Oops, I didn't realize Rittich was getting the start tonight. Well that a definite mistake. Good for the Oiler's, thanks Peters!

That's like saying it would be a good thing for the Flames if McDavid wasn't playing tonight. Edmonton fans.....

Look at his record..... As of the end of the 2017 season Smith was 15-1-1 against the Oilers. They split the season series last year. I guess Shames fans hate stats.

Typical Oilers fan, looking back. Look at his current record, I don't give a rip what Smith did in 2015, worst "starter" stats in the league for this season while Rittich is what, 3rd in the league for tenders with more than 8 starts.
Besides, you are talking about the Oilers, what goalie in the league doesn't have similar stats going back to 2010?

Sounds like the shames fans are a little bit nervous about tonight’s game?? The shames are going the way of this classic https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNt5FnMK2sM

You are only as good as your last test and Smith last game against the Oiler's in March 2018 he had a .944 save percentage. And by the way, make sure you thank Peters for me.

I am not sure if Johnny was on the ice for the 3rd goal last night, but everyone played that perfectly from a Flames perspective except Smith. The Shot was from the outside no traffic, textbook defensive positioning for a 1 on 1 situation. However, you still end up with a - over that.
From the age of 5 years old playing hockey players are taught to keep the shooter outside, that is the goalies job to stop that shot. Smith needs to make that save.
The other side of that is the offensive players need to put more pucks in the net there were several opportunities last night that the flames had great shot opportunities but they tried to make one more pass and ended up not getting a shot on net. As much as I want to put it all on Smith, we need to get some finish. Its one thing to outplay the other team but you still need to put the puck in the net.
How many times in the last few years have you heard the Flames were the better team but ran into a hot goaltender. It seems amazing to me that every team the flames play against has a "hot" goaltender. It seems more often then not we make the "hot" goaltender, look good. For example Prices's last 4 games his GAA was .852 (season total .890 excluding last night) last night his GAA was .956 Maybe he just happened to find his game yesterday, or maybe we helped it along. Price made a few good saves, but lots of shots were right at the glove/into his chest, no traffic in front etc. his positioning may have helped, but my belief is we make these goalies look good.
|
Not a good stat to by when your top scorers on the team are -7??? How are you supposed to be contentious in your division. Granted there are 25 teams averaging 1 point per game but transition to defense from your top scorers, when you don`t have the puck, is a big help to keeping the puck out of your net and winning games.
Johnny may or may not have been on the ice for the 3rd goal but he was front row center for Drouins goal to tie the game up. Little Johnny`s defensive liability was in clear evidence when he never bothered to follow Drouin to the net. Could have been a different outcome to the game if that goal never counted.
I try to cheer for Cgy.....when they're not playing Edm. I get frustrated watching lazy hockey players from Edm. and Cgy. Go Oilers go. Lets hope its a close game tonight.

Exactly, assuming that's what caused the groin injury last season, while playing the Islanders. Otherwise, it had nothing to do with it.

I'd be okay with him taking a swing at someone as they skated by, leave the bench, and get a 10 game suspension.

Nice nasty start. Did Bennett ever light Nurse up with that hit. The slew foot on Chuckie was lame.
And the shortie is very lame. Dammit.
