I ended up with a 4x4 bull on the last day. The majority of the elk are hiding In the NWA and the ones that are in the main hunt area seem to be ran hard. The first two days the herds were kept on the run all day. There were no huge bulls taken out of there that I saw or heard about. It seems that the better bulls were coming out of the NWA. The hunts gotten better but I still feel the first two days we’re a complete gong show due to certain individuals not caring about following rules or getting out of their trucks until they have surrounded the elk.

2 tags for cow Elk
I was drawn for cow Elk. Bought the tags and got two of them.
I have a question on required handheld GPS. Is that a must? I have a old Sony-Erickson cell with loaded maps and true gps (not antenna based gps). Can I use this one?

The Ralston Canex has Timmies and they have base hunt friendly “survival kits” for sale, or they at least did.

Last year, the Military police were doing kit checks before letting you through the gate to the training area and they needed to see a hand held GPS, they did not accept a cellphone.

Suffield hunt
At security checks they looking for GPS or compass and a flashlight Thats it. At registration you needed DL WIN PAL and insurance and reg. The hunt was really fun but really different. The army personal are awesome and do an amazing job. If you see a red truck you stop and visit. You will get more info out of them then the rest of the hunters combined. It worked well to team up with other guys as info is key on the base. Talk to everyone and anyone. The briefing everyday is ridiculous. You should get a stamp on your braclet once you have done it, then a quick 15 minutes of safety and off everyone goes on the other days. Except anyone that hasnt been through the whole briefing. Its tough not getting on the base at daylight everyday because of the same spell. It was tough sledding this week with only 40 elk shot all week, plus a mulie by accident. We ended up shooting a spiker bull and 2 cows on Wednesday. We were really thinking we were coming home with zero, so we were exstatic. Anyone that wants info, shoot me a PM. I will do my best to get back to you.
