Default Fish Id?

Kids caught a bunch of fish over in BC this past weekend. Columbia & Windemere lakes. Released all of them, but later on looked them up in the BC regs guide and tried to figure out what they were, but they didn't really match anything pictured. As they were mostly smaller fish, I just wonder if they just hadn't developed the characteristic color/markings yet. Trout of some type, seemed pretty common, any thoughts on most likely type? Obviously not a regular trout fisher here.

The "northern pike minnow" mis-nomer kinda threw me. I was thinking you guys meant baby northern pike. After a bit more web surfing, I'm pretty sure that's what they were. Don't think I'll let on to the kids that most think that they are more of a nuisance than a trophy.
