Default Whitetail Success

Well, I finally got the deer I’ve been after for the last week or so. There was slight ground shrinkage, but I’m very happy with it as it may not score as my best archery buck it definitely is the largest for total bone. He grosses around 165 and should net around 130 typical. He has an 8 inch droptine on his left side and a 5” tine coming off G3 on his right side. The shot was further than I would have liked, but I felt confident that I could make it as there was no wind, he was feeding and quartering away. The main reason I took the shot was after several vehicles stopping to look at him and one even honking their horn the deer seemed to start feeding away from my stand. I thought it was now or never. So I drew my bow settled my 60 yard pin on his heart and made an incredible shot. At the time I was somewhat concerned as I did not get full penetration, but as the deer bolted through the fence it looked like he crashed about 80 or so yards away. I called a couple buddies and they meet me at my truck. I had to go talk to another landowner as the deer ran into his place. He graciously gave me permission to go check for the deer and we found him right where I thought he had crashed. We then proceeded to take several pictures. Thanks to Paul and Luke I had a very easy time dragging and dressing the deer.
