GPS Tracking/Spot?

Hi Folks,
I am trying to find a suitable gps tracking unit for our company for working alone. I originally thought that the spot unit may work, but after reading all the complaints I am now unsure. Our agents work in the field alone, and we have a check in policy, but our clients would probably like to see more. Some sort of gps unit we could use to find someone in a hurry. We are a small company and don't want to be spending thousands of dollars a year and have no need to track everyone all the time. Any ideas?
