Tipping salmon guides??

Our family is heading out to the coast in a couple of weeks and it just hit me--how much should we tip the guides? I am assuming there is one guide/captain per boat. What is customary tip? 15%? Looking forward to your replies. BEL

For a good guide 15%, our last guide got 25%. Fishhawk

Usually 10 to 15% is a good place to start. Be aware that a good day of fishing isn't always about catching fish. I have tipped some guides way more than 15% and caught only a few fish for the day. But they worked their butts off and gave us an entertaining day on the water.

A cheerful guide is always better that some grump who bitches about every little thing. So really just judge yourself. Think about how hard they worked for you and at the end of the day you will know just how much you want to give.

4 day Langara is a $4300 trip and guilded is $2300.
10-15% of the total is $660-$990
10-15% of the guilded part is $230-$345.

What about all the other people that bend over backwards to accommodate and feed you?

Tipping is never really easy to navigate through.
