Smile First time fishing Wabuman:)

Me and a friend went to wabuman yesterday and had a great time. Caught 9 pike ranging from 2 lbs to about 8 lbs. I also hooked two others that were at the 10 lb mark or maybe more but lost them during the fight in the weeds. Just got some new berkley nanofil line which was just awesome. Highly recommend it to everyone. Just overall great day. We were one of the last ones on the water. Didn't know where to go lake was huge and sometimes quite choppy from wind. Anyone know any big fish hideouts close to PP launch?

Default Wabamum Lake Shore Fishing

I was just out a couple weekends ago, and I'm heading out again this upcoming long weekend. Great pike fishing from right off the shore across from the TransAlta plant at the old Sundance Boat launch. Water gets nice and deep quick. I pulled in this pike from the shore there earlier this year.

Congrats guys sounds like you found the big guys already. Big fish like deep water close to drop offs or shallow shelfs where they can come up to feed on bait fish easily. It can get rough so just make sure you are prepared check the weather ahead of time.
As for shore fishing like kdv said by the sundance plant is good there is a rail road track that runs by the lake its all rocks there is a big flat there lots of white fish and big Pike are always there feeding on them.
KVD That is a great fish bet he gave you a nice fight congrats. Just a quick tip those grippers are suppose to be on the lower lip/jaw of the fish its better for them.
Good luck on your next trip.
