Default Flies for stocked lakes and trout ponds

So I will start this off saying I have never been much of a stillwater fly angler. I have always just saved my fishing trips for times when I could be casting floating lines to fast water. Now with a 5month old at home and costs of everything getting so insanely high I have concluded im going to have to figure out how to get my fix elsewhere.
There's a few half decent small lakes and trout ponds in my area that at least according to my internet searches have a good number of stocked rainbow and tiger trout.
When targeting these fish what kind of flies should I be tossing in my box? I have a decent dry fly collection but when it comes to nymphs and streamers il admit my knowledge is lacking.

Leech patterns work well as do choronomids, and dry grizzlies , Tom Thumbs, and a host of others depending on the time of day and early or late in the year.
Some days you can throw the kitchen sink at them and catch them on anything , other days, well fogetaboutit!

At the local fish and game pond guys have been using micro leeches and chironomids in varying colours.

I have caught a few on hares ears and Prince nymphs.

I tend to “spot and stalk” the ones that are rising with dry flies. Last time I put a caddis on the end and caught 5 fish in 5 mins and wa skunked the hour before with nymphs.

I do really well with various leech patterns. My current favorite is the balanced bruised leech (I use them in black and blue or black and purple)

Ditto this. You can use the bruised leech under an indicator (try different depths to find out what works) or even troll them with a Type III sinking line. Chironomids in the spring (May/early June) and backswimmers/boatmen in September/October.

To get up to speed faster I suggest going online and checking out videos on still water fishing topics by Brian Chan and Phil Rowley. The two best in the business. You will learn a lot.

As 95% of feeding in lakes is below the surface.

I recommend the follow:

Assortment of balance leeches in different colours of bodies and tungsten beads and different sizes from 6-16

Assortment of chironomids in red, black, green and with either nickel, red or white tungsten beads in sizes 10-16

Assortment of fullbacks greens and browns in size 10-16

Assortment of damselflies

Assortment of scuds greens and grays in sizes 10-16

Some mayflies nymphs sizes 10-16

Assortment of balanced minnow flies size 6-12.

Assortment of boatmen and backswimmers in sinking and floating.

When it comes to dries. I’d suggest a few grasshoppers, a few mayflies and a few caddis. Nice to have just in case but… not used as much.

Mountain lakes I’d throw in some royals wulffs, irresistibles and a few stimulators.
