Default Lake athabasca ice fishing

Hey has anyone fished lake athabasca? Im planning a trip up there maybe next year. Heard old fort bay is good place for fishing 2-3feet of water and 3' of ice. Could i drive on the lake or do i need sled? Whats everyones experiences like fishing lake athabasca be end of February fishing trip. Driving to chip than not sure if im able to drive on lake or need sleds. Be great if i can drive on. Whats everyones experience like?

Your going to need a sled for sure, the lake never freezes nice and smooth like the smaller lakes and it’s way to far to go to not be able to fish . Feb is probably the coldest month to try and go there though but maybe you’ll catch a break in the weather.
