Default 84 years old and still at it.

My grandfather was lucky enough to get his moose this week
We were so proud of him giving it another go. This might be the last one but that’s also what I said 4 years ago....
Spending the morning in the blind , only 120 yards off the main trail, He got up and walked away from his blind location to call it a morning. As he rounded the point of woods in the bog the moose was there ,as still as a statue. She had caught his wind. He Took a knee , felt comfortable with a frontal shot, and squeezed off the shot . She fell and never moved again. 60 yard frontal shot in the neck as she was staring him down .

Unfortunately this hunt was in Newfoundland and I couldn’t get back to join them.
The young guys (my dad 60 and brother in law 45) cut and carried the moose out while grandpa held the legs back and reminisced about his first moose so long ago.

He’s never smoked, never drank, and was married to my grandma for 63 years before she passed 18 months ago. A hard worker and great man.
He deserves , and intends to enjoy every minute he has left.
Last moose was 4 years ago. He had walked 3.5 km solo that morning and shot his moose on the run with his 303
This year his balance is gone and unable to steady the heavy 303 , he opted a short walk to the stand and my dads 308 . I am very happy it worked out for him.

Really great stuff to read and congrats on your hunt, never stop and would love to see him again out there doing it again next year.

When I read about some guys saying it's to tough at 60 ,hell plenty of time if your healthy enough, stay active and never say no.

Wish you all the best.

Cheers

JD
