Default Any Ice on Slave or Utikima???

Looking forward to first ice walleye and perch, if there ever is a first ice.

Was - 21 at Smoky lake last Saturday, short lived though as it warmed up to 0 that afternoon.

Anyone know what the ice is like up at Slave and Utikima?

I live in the Town of Slave Lake, and like others have said no ice yet. it's just forming on the sides. Again like others say, wait a month and you should be good to go.

It's up and down with the weather. I'll keep on reporting on the ice formation for the next little while.

West basin of Slave has ice. How thick I can't say, but it looks solid straight across from Shaw's Point to Joussard. Hopefully not too much longer...!

same thing on the east side. the other day i noticed skim ice on the surface, but it's been windy on our side...not too sure if it stayed.

Though the river is frozen all the way down to the weir, where the current is it's open, but been frozen on the sides for about 3 weeks now.

These cold temps we are supposed to be getting in the next few days will surely help the freeze.

Thanks for the update on the west side!!

Default Ice Report

Didn't make it to Slave or Utik yesterday. DID Drive back through Athabasca up to Calling Lake.

Mitsue, Lawrence, Ghost, Baptiste, Island and Calling are all froze over. Did not see anyone walking out yet. TAKE A PLANK, ICE PICKS, ROPE, AND WEAR A FLOATER COAT AND DO NOT GO OUT ALONE if you are venturing out this weekend. Was - 20 last two nights up north. Next to no snow on the lakes. Ice should grow an inch a night initially, up to the first 8 inches, then i t slows down. Watch for current areas though.

Otherwise, it looks like fishin time.
