Default Sylvan - Your Boat Still Needs to be Rescued

At least 4 need rescue, two are sinking the dock & two others maybe finders keepers losers weepers!

Sure is windy out here, time someone got a new auto-bilge pump, too.

Could be costly, dam.

Yikes. I was gonna head out tomorrow morning. Maybe stay home, wait to see if things settle down and Sunday looks better.

Where is a good place to launch around Jarvis Bay?

That brings back way to many memories, back in 2017 my sailboat washed up a shore and pounded a hole through the hull from bouncing on a rock.
Luckily insurance paid for the repairs.
Soon after that I sold the thing.

Man i would be hesitant leaving my boat anchored outside of a protected slip if weather was coming in! Have seen boats swamped even while beached on shore. At least there you can get to it!

Oh man that would be heartbreaking. Going to be some sad folks when they discover their pride and joy has gone down. Feel terrible for them.

Best two days of boat ownership… day you buy it and day you sell it. Lol.

Aug 11th, taken 1 hr ago.

It's been close to a week & you haven't rescued your boat.

Wonder when the Govt takes possession ?

How does middle of the lake boat storage work? Do you pay someone or just drop anchor and leave for the week/month?

Does maritime salvage law apply to inland lakes? Might be a cheap boat for someone...

Couldn't someone get the boat license number and call it in to registries and somehow get word to the owner through the, RCMP is it? Not sure of it's possible.

Actually, the waves did not look too bad, but the anchors did not have enough length on the rope and probably had no chain before the anchor to keep the anchor digging down in the sand.

But once an anchor starts to drag its too late to stop it getting pounded onto shore.

At Calling Lake two years ago there was a week of 100 km winds that demolished most of the docks with many twisted like a DNA molecule. To make matters worse, boats on lifts fell over, filled with water in the lift, and were pounded on the lift arms as the roofs were slowly torn away. Some of the boats went upside down and lost windshields.

I feel for the guys whose equipment was wrecked but Mother Nature can be a B ....... sometimes!
