Really appreciate any and all feedback. Im one of those guys that really likes using standard measuements, but appreciate the metric system especially when alot of the regs are based on that.
Wow, really getting alot of requests for these things, ive ordered up a bunch of material. I should have ordered more. Looks like i have a dozen at least to build!! ill update when i get the latest version put together. And ive handed a few over to few of the more "hardcore" guys on the forum to see how they stand up.
As for price, always going to be fair especially for the AO community. Thinking i can build a standard one black/white, 1 fold, 48" total. Standard/metric for around $16 in material, then maybe 1.5 hrs labour. I love fishing, and love this community. I think around the $50 mark would be fair? But can always negotiate. For a more custom job with full color logos and gold plating..... maybe a bit more.

I work in fisheries and most of the ones I use are either a tape epoxied into a piece of large pvc pipe cut lengthwise in half with a cap on one end or otherwise home made units. I even had a pocket portable one that was a tailor's measuring tape glued to polyethylene tarp hemmed with duct tape
wet it before you measure fish

Those work well also, but it’s tough to store a 60” pipe in most boats. It’s really nice having the board fold up when not used.
Agree on wetting them whenever possible.

I would love to buy one of these from you when they are ready as well! I was on the verge of ordering a folding 48" from Ketch boards but this is better. Open water season is right around the corner!

Just waiting to hear back from him with his contact info...mine is a 60" two piece folding unit. I like that it folds at the 30" mark. Makes measuring lakers for Cold Lake simple.
His new ones I believe are marked both standard and metric. I put my own metric measured markings on at the lengths required for the waters I fish in SK and colour coded the markings. Blue=lake trout/red = stocked bows, brookies, splake and tigers/ black = pike. That way I have a quick reference line without having to read the numbers. And I looked through my messages with him and noticed I paid $107 shipped included to my door.

I've up'd my material order.... seems to be a real demand for these things.
I'm going with two sizes, a single fold 48" and a single fold 60"
Added a handle, and of course both units of measurement.
Will update when I have 1 of each final product made.
Thinking $49.99 for the 48" and $74.99 for the 60"
Maybe a bot more on the 60" just because my machines are limited to 24" so I have to get creative doing larger pieces, but it can be done for sure!
Will have an exact number once I get a few finished and see what it takes to get a steady assembly line going on these.

You might want to come up with a name to market them. Looks like you're well on your way to being the Alberta bump board King! Great job! Your prototype looks great.

Awesome product mooseknuckle...let me know when I can order a 60”er...showed this to my fishing partner and she said buy one but I told her it’s in the early stages and she questioned the 60”er because I apparently only catch wee ones!

I’m currently testing his latest version and it seems to be holding up well.

Looking great folks!! Think I've got it down to a science now. I'll post up more pics shortly. I've fantastic feedback and been getting 2-3 requests a week! Made 3 different models, 48" single fold, 60" single fold. And a 48" 6" wide for the kayak guys. So far so good.

Here’s a 45” pike on the beta version of the board. The new version is more robust.

Got to hand it to Terry the board is great and he also treats his costumers well!
I jumped down off the back bench seat and landed on my bump board and broke the plastic vertical piece on the side that the nose of the fish butts up to. He sent me a new piece free of charge in the mail the same day i asked him to buy a new piece off of him.
100% would buy again!

NICE!!! Appreciate the positive feedback, you honestly had the very first one, and admitidly there were some issues, but I think I have it all figured out now.
I wasnt sure about the 8" width of the board...... but with fish like that I think it's near perfect.
Really cool to see a big ol nasty pike like that!! Keep em coming.

I thought I'd wrap up this thread and share my experience with Mooseknuckles locally-made bumpboards! Check out my blog post below:

I know I speak for many of us here when I say thank you, Mooseknuckle! Your bumpboards are excellent.

Fantastic job on the board. Well worth the money in my opinion.
What you can use in the meantime is an old eavestrough. Just use an end piece with the end cap, a sharpie to mark the measurements and there you have it. You can make it in sections so you can slide it out to use and then collapse it when you don't need it.
You would be surprised at how big (fat) a fish you can get in it. Anything slimmer than the biggest laker or salmon will fit. Another nice feature is that the fish won't be flapping all over your boat.

Really appreciate all the support, if you have messaged me I'm doing my best to respond to all the requests!! I have more material arriving for the 48" boards early this week and have several 60" boards being built. So happy for the positive response. I will get back to each and every request asap!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!! What a great community.
