Default Kitamat

Steelheads running. Water clear as a bell,Did three day guided tour two float downs. Nothing big 10lbs.The guides told me the week before a 25pounder caught. A walk in river we came up with one steelhead, black as night, must have been on the way out,on the fly of course, fought like the devil.Fly fishing on a river for the big boys as good as it gets.

Love stealheading out there. disappointed im missing my spring trip. Looks like the rivers will be blown out soon as there is a lot of rain in the forecast. What guide service did you use?

You're missing the point, there is no Kitamat! Either you're pulling my leg or just plain ......

Anyway, good on ya for steelies on the fly. I miss my former life on the coast at this time of year, spring run steelies and cutthroat slashing after salmon fry.

One of the biggest construction sites in canadian history started by this small town, life as they know it about to change. Money a plenty--the fishing pressure enormous.Fly not fry.

whatever you do, be careful on this river. Anotehr guy has drowned on it this week. Its a great river with good fishing but it can be dangerous with log jams.

I was just working in Kitimat for a few weeks. I was able to get out fly fishing on the Kitimat river after work a couple of times and caught my first coho. I didn't have high hopes as I have never fished for salmon before... but it turned out great and the fish were a ton of fun! Here is a photo of one of the ones I landed!
