The wait is FINALLY over!!!
Finally, after nearly a year my NULA has arrived, and just in the nick of time for rifle season!
I've been in steady contact with Clay, tracking every action taken when he sent me the text yesterday that the truck had arrived, then texted me this morning that to confirm my rifle was on the shipment. It took me about no time to jump in my truck and drive over to Prophet River to pick it up.
Melvin must have missed the memo I wanted the barrel cerakoted but looking at it now I'm glad he didn't. In all honesty, I really like the feel of my Kimber, but the fit and feel of the NULA is truly on a whole other level. Even though the advertised weight is only a few oz's different, I'm not sure if it's the design or balance but the NULA feels way lighter and easier to hold on target.
I haven't cleaned it or shot it yet, but I'll be running a few chunks of led down the pipe this weekend to have it dialed in for Tuesday.
Here's a few pics from the cave, I'll most likely get a few more this weekend, with hopefully a few more later on in November that have some antlers in them!

No, it's a 24" barrel, but it's still about 1/2" shorter over all than my Kimber with a 23-1/2" barrell.

Can't wait to see some targets. We're there any test shots fired prior to receiving it?

Congratulations, my friend! As nice as I was expecting it to be. I think that missing the memo was a good thing. It makes it identifiable as a custom rather than an off the shelf number. You have good taste, Kurt!

As far as I know Melvin test fires all his rifles before shipping them out but I never got a target like with my Cooper.
It's a 280ai.
Shane, this is all your fault. I didn't even know what a NULA was until you piped up ..... Thanks buddy

Stainless barrel with bluing or just the picture effects ?
Nice either way. Very nice.
I inherited a 22 with a stainless barrel and may have well been chrome.
not my pick brother inlaw had it picked out.

Ya, well worth the wait.
It's a cerakoted or blued action with a stainless barrel.
Skytop, good eye. Maybe I'll send it your way after the season.

Really, Dean2 needs to be blamed! Week before you and I talked, I was at Dean's place and he told me that if he were to only have one hunting rifle, it would be a NULA. When Dean talks, I listen. He knows that of which he speaks.

X2. I've been keeping my eyes open for this post for awhile now. It looks great and I am sure will be well worth the wait.

Ya, a NULA is a semi custom gun, light and hopefully accurate. Google NULA and Melvin Forbes there is a bit of info on the internet about them.

We will be having our first outing together tomorrow 😁
I never thought I would find another rifle that shouldered as good as my M70 featherweight but I have now, and it's about 2lbs lighter!!!
Reminds me of packing my old pellet gun around when I was a kid, I don't even need a sling.

Nice looking rig, came out real well. Glad you are happy with the fit and balance. You will be amazed at the groups it gives you with a wide variety of loads. Some 139 grainers and some 162s will make great starting loads. Be nice to see the test targets when you get back.

Thanks Dean, but with it being October 29th I'm not sure how much load development I'll be doing. I've got some 140gr bullets loaded and I grabbed the cheapest box of factory ammo (160gr noslers for $73) because there was no brass available, I'm hoping one of the two will get me a tight enough group to hunt with, I hate doing load development in November.
I have to also give you credit for me buying this rifle, after Shane planted the bug, you pretty much sealed the deal when you talked about yours. I still can't get over how good it feels when I shoulder it, so comfortable and holds rock steady.
