Default Need some opinions on the wife's car problem

2014 Ford escape AWD, just noticed this black gunk all over both front tires I can't get into the shop until Monday.

Any idea what this is? feels greasy you can see where I touched it on the bottom Nothing on the ground under the car I can't see any leaks, it's strange it's on both front wheels.

They are probably semi metalic pads.

Front wheels have more brake dust than back wheels. I try to keep mine clean. Try not to use the brakes.

Only break dust. When you put your head on the pillow tonight dream of big bucks and large fish.

This, not so much.

Think I should buy a new rifle with the money I saved on the repairs

See you know how to dream right.

Never dream about a car, its like a bad relationship, it will take all your money and leave you on the side of the road one day.

Don't replace the brakes. Just get a louder horn.

Get her to take you for a drive
Ever so stealthily, casually glance down to see if she is riding the brakes.

Or follow her and look for constant brake lights

It's hopeless her only driving skill is hitting the brakes regardless of the situation ice, rain small cats and dogs, brakes at every hard at every stop.

I've tried to coach it does not go well
