The Strathcona and Commercial depending on the day. That was when they were run down dumps.

50 cents got you a beer and a hotdog for lunch at the Strath.

We referred to the elderly couple who ran the Strathcona bar as mom and dad.

Peepers strip club here in Calgary.
It was the only place that wouldn't ID us.
We were 16.
Then we made some fake ID and the world was our oyster.

The only time that fake ID was questioned was in a bar in High River.
I walked in and asked for a case of off sales. Bartender asked for ID. I pull it out, he looks at it, looks at me and says... "Is this fake" I immediately melted like the 16 year old is was and said.. Yes it is as I hung my head in shame..

Bartender says.. "Thanks for being honest, now what can I get you"

Many good times with that ID.
I still remember my address
12415 Elizabeth Street
Pheonix Arizona.

Stupid fat fingers.

Nope, it was perfect. It was laminated and every thing.

I still had it until the house burnt down.
We did some amazing things with the presses at our high school.

Yep and spent some time bouncing at the Park Hotel mid 90's after the Windors fell in ashes. Only peeler joint between Edmonton and Calgary. Talk about bikers. Grim Reapers as far as the eye could see.

Spent many a day drinking Black Label with the Reapers at their old clubhouse in Lower Fairview.

Later on in life, doing janitorial, ended up having the Park as a contract. Most disgusting bathrooms in Alberta lol.

Cheers

Aldgate Pump Hotel

Aldgate, South Australia, Australia.

1984 - I was 4, dad bought me a mellow yellow, I drank it and his buddy 1/4 fill it up from his Guinness pint, I took a huge gulp (of the nice looking cream) and sprayed it all over the bar.

bought my first legal there, first off sales and several birthday partys and my farwell party when I moved to Canada, still the best pub around.

I started going to bars when I was 12. I lived in Beijing, and they didn't care if you were 3 as long as you had money. I didn't drink, though my friends did.

First beer was at St. Jerome's Pub in The Hague, the Netherlands. I was 15 and the year was 2000. Everybody at my high school drank there, although the locals didn't much care for the crowds of hundreds of drunk foreign kids descending on their street every Friday. Was a great place though. Many fond memories, though many more hazy ones.

I remember going with a couple friends when we were young to the Forest Lawn Hotel. Filling the table with glasses of draft to the dismay of the waitress and flipping cigarette packs over the glasses. One point on the side, two on the end to see who drinks. Fill the table a couple times or more, Can't say I ever remember leaving on those occasions??!!

We may have been asked to leave..................but then again, probably wouldn't remember anyways. WE had a good time though.

Here's hoping. I've got a buddy I used to bartend with that's really short. One day some knuckleheads were being kunckleheads and he says to me "I remember my first beer..." Then he says kind of under his breath "first trimester..."

Never really knew if it was some excellent dark humor or if that was why he was so short. Didn't really want to ask.

Plaza Hotel in Kingston, ON. Not only did they have live music, but also exotic entertainment! 16 years old and I remember it like it was yesterday. But I had consumed my fair share, and my memory isn't all that great now, so I can barely remember what I had for breakfast yesterday. Reminds me of a time when a couple of buddies and I rode our motorcycles to New York.....wait....what was I talking about?

Thumbs up First Bar

Collins Hotel, In Dundas, Ontario at age 16. First trip in was with my older brother and some of the guys he worked with. Waitress never even gave it a 2nd thought about asking for ID.

Was a semi regular at the Collins throughout high school. Many nights sitting in the corner with a group of friends, talking amongst ourselves and minding our own business. Police would do regular walk throughs, and none of us were ever asked for our ID.

First time I was asked for Id was on my 19th birthday. Waiter made the comment that "first night eh", to which I replied "I've been coming here for 3 years" !!
