hello,
Taking a trip to fairmont with the family for spring break. Booked a cabin right on Dutch Creek.
Wondering if the water will be flowing or fish able at the end of march? not looking for any sports or anything like that just wondering if its worth packing the fly rod and purchasing a licence.
Any experienced advice or reports would be greatly appreciated.
Not sure what the dates you are going are, but I believe there is a general river/stream closure in the Kootenays (region 4) that runs from April 1 to June June 14. The chances Dutch creek even being fishable at that time are slim. All depends on how hard the run off starts coming down and how much there is. Most likely will be running high and muddy. http://www.env.gov.bc.ca/fw/fish/reg...17_region4.pdf
Just a quick follow up there bbyro, I was born and raised in Cranbrook, and don't recall ever being out on any creeks that early. That's even early for getting out on the lakes, depending on the spring most of them may not be ice free yet.
