Default 2017 fish stocking

I've heard that due to whiring disease the stocking of lakes may be shut down. Or at least slowed. Anyone hear anything?

The hatcheries have to comply with Canadian Food Inspection Agency requirements prior to being allowed to stock again as I believe the moratorium has not been lifted. I think they can be quite onerous.

Government facilities are clean. Some private hatcheries have WD and will not be allowed to stock or sell fish.
In the past, the government was buying triploid eggs from the States and then raising the fish here. These varieties have more success than the homegrown ones. Interesting to hear that new varieties are being investigated

Agreed they were clean but the CFIA requirements will still need to be met in the infected area by provincial facilities.

Whether permitting will be in place in time for spring stocking would be the question.
