Default $50 RCBS rebate check arrived this week!

Just unpacked it and my son was calibrating and playing with it while I was reading the manual. Lists at $485. with sale at Natchez now at $279. and I also ordered 30 cal collet to bring it over $300. to qualify for the RCBS $50 rebate. Net cost after $50 shipping is still $279.
Wish I had a run of ready brass to try it but nothing worthwhile empty to justify turning this baby on. Programable memory by calibre, bullet weight, powder description and charge weight for up to 30 different charges.

Big thick catalogue of other goodies included in box so we can dream about even more reloading supplies. Noticed a few things just glancing at the catelogue that shouldn't be a problem to import into Canada and both Gerber and Puma knives seem to be half of what they are in Canada.
Bushnell 8mb trail cameras are $130 cheaper at $200. each and that is with just glancing at a few prices.
Bullet packages for reloading my favorite 22 -250 round in the 55 grain SPSX is $13. a box if you order 10 boxes as compared to $18. here.
This could be the start of a long business relationship!

I bought mine from them as well a couple years ago. Then wondered why I didn't buy one a long time ago.

You won't get the bullets in. U.S. Homeland Security can't clamp down on Mexican drug dealers so they clamp down on reloaders.

I have one, too, and love it. There's some trick about a straw that I read somewhere here and forgot it. Maybe somebody could post that instruction again, pls?

Rob I have about 100 prepped 223 brass ready to charge. If you're really itching to fire that puppy up I could swing by with some H4895 and you can see how it meters.
Heck I'll even pay you. How does 6 bucks sound lol!

Congrats on the new toy. I'd like a case prep center first. Then one day a chargemaster! And yes that Natchez catalog has some great stuff with great prices in it! and then a turret press and then....

Default Come on over FAF

Your $6 is still sitting on the wolf. my son took it for lunch money one day and I made him pay it back saying it was a clients change!!

Now I have 3 surplus powder measures and a Redfield balance scale I no longer need. Itching to play with the new toy

You're going to love it This thing is just so easy to use, and clean up is a breeze too. Cuts my loading time down by probably 70% if not more.

Default chargemaster

Been using mine for the last two years. Bought it off a forum member (this forum has cost me waaaaaaaay tooo much money by the way) Best investment for reloading EVER. Cuts down reloading time by at least half.

You will find that some powders will clump up, and throw overcharges now and then, but you can reduce the occurrences by using a properly modified piece of plastic straw inserted into the dispenser tube.

It all depends on which powders you load. When loading Trailboss for my handguns, overcharges didn't happen, but with IMR7828 and R-22, 1 in 10-15 or so charges would go over by .1 or .2. With the straw mod, that number dropped to 1 in 30-50 charges being overcharges.

where do I find the details on properly modifying the plastic straw if I need it?IMR 7828SSC is one of my favorite 243 powders but perhaps the SSC will meter better than the regular 7828.

I guess even with this new toy I suspect I wil be inclined to weigh each charge as I do from the powder measure to ensure it is 100% accurate. An over or undercharge of a 1/10 grain will affect my groups. Once I gain some confidence in the amount it is throwing I will probably only weigh every 10th or 20 charge.

It wil still speed up the loading process considerably for my measures did not like metering IMR 4350 so I have had to weigh each charge for my 270 and 30-06 for many years.

I notice that, too, esp. with certain powders.

Can you be more specific on the "properly modified piece of plastic straw"?

Each charge is weighed, you can verify the scale reading before you remove the pan from the scale.

As for the mod:

Default thanks eh11

yeah I am stil not in digital mode so somehow felt using my beam scale to check the digital throw would result in more accuracy but as you say the pan is already on a scale when it is thrown. Still have nothing empty to load!!

I did that when I bought mine. After weighing about 25-50 loads, I gave up. The scale was always dead on.

Wait until the weight reading comes back on after the "beep", though, before you read the scale as it sometimes throws out a clump at the end that can be up to +.3 higher. Hence, the straw thing.

Default Tried it today

Absolutely no over or under charges on a 60 round box of 243 100 grain BTSP today
it measured a perfect 43 grains each and every time.
Boy does it cut down the loading time! why did I wait so long?oh yeah the natchez sale with RCBS $50 rebate motivated me!

Drain worked better than I expected to empty hopper back into IMR 7828 SSC bottle but there was still 32 grains in the little spigot I trickled out. have to change that up next time before I turn machine off. Now I know why it came with a paint brush included! Some static build up in the hopper had some powder sticking.

From experience ............... remember to close it before you refill the hopper ................ you will never forget again !!!!

They are a very sweet unit !! I have had mine (from Natchez) for just over a year and cannot imagine using a balance beam scale again.

Default pleasure to use

yes Nigel I have the beam scale and two powder measures up for sale already. Can;'t update the package deal until it is 3 days old as I asked a mod to amend to take all thre for $225. but he must be busy plowing snow!!

You really started pouring powder in the hopper without closing the drain?
How did your mother enjoy pheasant?

Another "from experience" tidbit....

When you take the top off the hopper...ALWAYS hold the clear hopper tube with your other hand.

If you have a full hopper and take the top off and it sticks to the clear tube.....you will empty that hopper in the blink of an eye, all over your bench....this is especially important with a new unit that is not worked in yet.

Hate to admit it publicly, but yes I did

Rob, the bird was delicious, we had it for supper last night. Definitely milder (in flavour) than the pheasant we have eaten in Ireland, probably because it wasn't hung/aged like we do over there.

Default this is fun

Almost 2 full trays of 22-250 yesterday. finding empty brass around this place is going to get difficult. Only have 2 trays of 30-06 left but know I haven't got enough IMR 4350 left. Might be time for another bulk powder order from Higginsons as the IMR 4895 can was getting a little light yesterday as well.

Don't bother trickling out the tube, after you drain the hopper,I just dial in 99 grains of powder, and let it run until the tube is empty.

After finishing the 22-250 loads yesterday I emptied the hopper and then replaced the pan so it tried to fill the pan again emptying the tube.
then I pressed stop/cancel. seemed to work

Pretty much what I meant, when you mentioned trickling, I was picturing you holding your finger on the trickle button.

Will have to do the straw insert. Had some H4350 clump up and throw a few over charges. That is the only hicup, should have bought one of these years ago, just got mine this fall. Can load 3-4 times as many 223 in the same amount time as I use too with the old scale.
