The guy who broke the record was Gerry Ouellette, he shot a perfect 600-60Xat 50 meters in the smallbore.
His gun was broken in shipping so he had to borrow Gil Boa's rifle ( Boa came third) A Russian took the silver.

However, when the range was re-checked for distance for the world record, it was found that it was mere inches short , so the record was disallowed - the gold medal stood however.

No one has asked another in a while, so with no googling who knows the Nationality of John Garand, inventor of the M1 .30 Cal. rifle?

Currently, the highest score on the original game was set in 1982 by 15 year old Randy Kuntz of Fairview, Alberta. His verified score was 2,006,000 with all lives intact. This high score still stands and is one of, if not the longest standing video game record in history.
