Seemed like way too much BS for me so I just carry my bear spray
, it works on wolfs, bears and cats and a whole lot less weight and hastle.
You only need a hunting license to hunt....you only need a valid PAL to carry a defender in BC. Misleading information doesn't do anyone any good.

Anyone who says not to worry about bears in the winter need to do a little more research. Bears do not fully hibernate like small mammals. They will wake up if stumbled upon.

On the other hand I've found that bear mace does the job and takes up less room.

So what is it you do should you actually shoot a bear out of season and have no licence? I dont need some smart ass trying to shine when all I did was state what I read in the regulations.

I presume you'd be carrying the defender for protection, not hunting. IF you had to defend yourself and ended up killing a bear your expected to report it to the authorities, and they would investigate whether you were defending yourself or harvesting out of season.

Personally I have no qualms about shooting a predator out of season if it's threatening my life.
