It depends on a few factors.
Like the time of year and where you go. Either place would be an awesome expereice. All the caribou hunting I have done is close to the Yukon/NWT border. The mountains seem like they are alive at times, teeming with thousands of caribou.

Both would be a good choice. I would stay away from the last week of August. They can be hard to find when they are rubbing off velvet.

Hunted both at Aurora and Peterson point lake also the Finlinson lake area in the Yukon. Petersons and aurora were both excellent, although Petersons was a little more poshy. Check out Trophy book archery, I think they are a rep for Aurora good chance to get a cancellation hunt with them.
If I went again I think I would go back to Petersons, although I doesn't really matter, if you hit the migration any place would be good.

As I explained earlier in another thread you started, in the Yukon you don't require an outfitter, you can go with a hunter host.

In iowa a 2 month old can hunt as long as a parnet is with in talking distance and has a valid hutning liscense. NO i do not know any one who lets a child that young hunt. I started hunting at 9 with my dad but i have went since i was 4.

You pretty well need to have a friend in BC or the Yukon then that will take you on Hunter Host licence.

Woodland or Barren Ground?
You will find both in the Yukon. Woodland in the fall in the south and Barren Ground during the migration north of Dawson Creek in late winter. As mentioned before you will need one hunter host per hunter from the south or an outfitter. Hunter hosts can only do it once every two years. There will be trophy fees that have to be paid as well. You will also require an export permit to remove the meat/antlers from the Yukon. All said you would have to pay the same fees with an outfitter but a hunter host is far cheaper. I live there for 3 years 95-98. I'm sure the fees have gone up but for the first year until I was deemed a resident my moose cost me:
license $80
trophy fee $150
The hunter host permit was only 10 bucks but you have to find someone willing to take you. They cannot be paid to do it.
