Default Big N.S.R. pike (Aug. 21,2013) -Hermitage

Went down to the river today to go relax after work, but in the river I guess there is no such thing as "relaxing". So I was using a very simple setup for clearwater pike/big walleye, it consists of a 5/0 circle hook 50 lbs. mono/flourocarbon leader and a swivel. So I cast it out with an anchovy, and as the slow current lets it drift I immediately get a bite. By dad's friend's daughter was there she was cathing nothing so I promised her a fish. What do you know she hooks on this monster 40" pike. She couldn't fight it no longer so her dad told me to take over. after about 10 runs and god knows how many head shakes I land him. It was very thick didn't have a scale sadly but I've held 20 lbs. fish before and it was heavier. This thing was just as big as the little girl. Overall my PB pike and will probably never beat it.

Nice fish young man, thanks for posting. My dads best friend caught and mounted a huge pike from the river some 20 plus years ago so they are in there.
