Default Struble Lake rainbows

I brought back a lure from Australia, a green rubber bug. Don't know what it is supposed to be down under but it sure looks like a dragon fly nymph to me. I guess the trout in Struble lake thought so to. Here are three different sizes I caught there the other day.

Ice fishing season is fast turning into spring bear season down here.

Yup bottom one is your classic struble rainbow. Were they hitting hard duffy4?

Nice trout. Those struble bows have crazy colors eh? I was there a few weeks ago and they were really dark green and purple almost. Never caught anything over a foot but the action was good.

A little north of the halfway mark I'd say. Close to Mitchell Lake.

It's small. That's all I fish out of there is a float tube or pontoon. It's all you need. The motorheads do also have a speed limit so it is fly-fisher friendly. If you send me a PM I can give you some info on three secret trophy trout waters not too far from there.

Is it reasonable to fish off the shore?

If you want to chuck bait. Flyfishing is effective too, but pretty well the only place to flyfish from shore is the two boat launches where all the bait chuckers go. (Lazy government of Alberta hasn't moved the floating chunk of crap in front of it so it's off centred) and then guys sort of made their own on the southeast corner. You'd be better off in a dinghy.
