Default How to Catch Pike

With maggots on a small hook and no leader of course. Was fishing for perch when I caught this guy today, funny thing is that even though I hooked him right in the lip I still ended up losing my hook since when I went to pull the hook out with a pair of pliers he gave a kick and the pliers ended up cutting the line...

Figured the second picture was pretty cool so that is why I am sharing this.

Oh and a loon that was cruising around, wouldn't let me get close enough to take a better shot.

I believe this is the 3rd time now I have caught a pike on maggots at this lake. Pike hit maggots differently then anything else I have ever caught them on, I think they just see it and inhale instead of actually striking because every time it feels like I am just stuck in the weeds until I give a little bit of a tug to pull through and then the pike realizes he has been caught.
