Default Stupid question about A/C units

Ok. I’m a Texas boy born and raised. Moved here a few years ago with my wife who’s a Albertan. Anyway we bought a house outside of calgary with an a/c unit. There was no cover or anything. Do I need to anything to protect it?

Thanks

John

No cover necessary for the winter.
Although if you pick up a cheap one at Princess Auto or even wrap a tarp over it in fall you can save yourself a bit of work cleaning it up, since eventually you should vacuum or use compressed air to clear out pieces of leaves, etc that will eventually clog it up and diminish its' efficiency.....

Seems smart to spend $40 to cover a $3000 unit, no? I cover mine.

They all get rained on in the summer. There's not a commercial unit in the world that ever gets covered. That being said, at times they can get packed up with snow which can wreak havoc in the electrical/controls section. I've never covered mine, been going strong for 24 years.
