good article that should get you started. the fish don't come easy up there, but it's one of the most beautiful places on this earth to be.

no lol its just alot easler to say what i wanted to say on IM so he could repond quicker. i caught a pretty decent 8lb bull trout rightat the boat launch on a silver gliding rap. or mabe it was something else but those wrk crazy good. no ones trys em. for bulls getting down deep is key for them anything looking like a cut, bow, or sucker theyll smash it regradless of size up to a pooint.

I have never been skunked at Lower K and my technique is to use silver colored crankbaits with red on the bottom of the face. I will usually try a countdown Rapala first so that I can see if they are biting on the bottom. Then I will try a similar pattern but one that is active in the middle of the water column and if that doesn't work then I try a floating rapala with the same patter. I also find that the Countdown brown trout pattern works well. Here is a picture of a bull I caught on a little silver rapala last Spring.

I am willing to bet that there is open water to be found up there. We fished it last year in the first week of April and there was plenty of fishable, open water.

I would love to go but I don't have a ride.

Default Ice

Was up there on Sunday, lots of ice no open water. They weren't even running water through the dam between the upper and lower, was hoping to fish the open water there but it was froze over. The water level in both lakes is about 20-30 below normal water levels right now. Seen some guys ice fishing near the boat launch on the lower lake.

Didn't go on the ice only took our gear for open water and nobody was ice fishing near the interlake dam. The lake looked like maybe only a foot of snow, couldn't tell if there was flood water. Getting down to the ice look like you will have to go through a couple feet of snow, no one has beaten down a path there for a while

went to lower k today, north end, lots of ice (18 inches of clear, then another 14 inches of white) No floodwater, like walking on concrete, it obviously froze, as you can easily depict the floodwater layers when drilling holes. No open water anywhere really at this end except a small patch way down by the narrows. Walked within 10 feet of the open water at the outflow, still a good 6 inches of solid clear there. This lake will be good for weeks still. Fishing slow, 6 bites, landed 4

Should be able to just hop into a canoe, push off and ride down the hill to the open water.
