What twist? It should be a very impressive cartridge. I would imagine velocity should be similar to a 25 Gibbs which isn’t a bunch slower than a 257 wby but uses significantly less powder.
Will you have to turn necks?

It’s a Douglas barrel 1-10 twist. Reamer is a no turn neck . I’m expecting 25-06 velocities .

The feed cone is cut , just have to locate the extractor cut and mill it out .Then engrave, blue and do a little fitting into the stock.

Why not the 25-06 if there are no expected velocity gains over the 25-06?

On a short action
There's the .25 Humdinger. 25-06 velocities on a .243 improved parent case.Wildcats may not always be practical but have a certain unique cool factor.

Absolutely , however what is the fun is sticking to one. I current have 250- 3000, 257 Robert , 257 ackley , 2 25-06 . Had a 257 Wby mag .
If guys can identify as girls and girls identify as guys , my 25-284 can identify as a 25-06!

Got a chance to fire form some brass today , using 100 gr Sierra and H-4831. Definitely showing promise , unfortunately the battery was dead on my chrono so no velocities .

Happy so far with the results as it was a light load for fire forming and was cleaned after each shot. Hopefully 100 barnes x , or 115 partition or 90 gmx will work in this rifle . Now that I have some brass fire-formed I can try those .

Tried some H4831 SC with a moderate load and velocities were comparable to 25-06. Accuracy wasn’t were I wanted to be.
Gonna cross reference 6.5 -284 data to utilize more powder info .

My 6.5-284 likes H4350, H1000 and Reloader 22. But that’s with 140 VLD’s.

Just wondering if you'd share your 25-284 reamer specs with me? Thanks Robert
