Winefred info?

Hey all, planning a trip with a buddy to hit Winefred for 3 or 4 days around the first of Sept. & was looking for a little info. Coming up from Calgary so once we get to Edmonton what's the quickest/best route to the lake ? Also, does anyone know if the lodge there will allow non-guests (for a fee I would presume) to slip a boat for a few days? Thanks
