Default Personal Best Northern Pike

Caught myself a beauty of a pike this weekend. 46.25 inches, didn't weigh her but guessing just over 25 lbs.

Caught in the water somewhere here in AB .

Thumbs up

That's a great pike.
Hazy out on the lake.
Did she come in like a log or put up a squabble...all the big one I have caught just came in easy with only a few runs.

Caught her in shallow water in the middle of a weed patch using a subsurface rapala. It was a heck of a fight out of a kayak to try and keep her out of the weeds, probably my toughest pike battle. I was really glad I was using my new imx swimbait rod and revo toro with 50 lb braid because I was thumbing the spool and pulling hard to keep her above the weeds while she towed me around.

I got to watch the strike too which was awesome. She must have seen it from a ways off because I was just watching my lure come back and all of a sudden saw this huge fish coming cruising in from the side just open her mouth and inhale the lure. Set the hook and she went ballistic.

That's unreal! Congratulation on landing that chunky torpedo. I had a 30" pike drag my anchored canoe around last weekend. I can only imagine how awesome the fight must of been in a kayak with that big girl pulling you around.

Fantastic fish!!

Congrats.

I love the fight from a big pike that has access to deep cold water when caught shallow. They seam to fight like they are possessed then.

Beauty pike. Makes me wonder what she would have weighed back in march when she was full of eggs.

I wish I would have had someone to film me lol. Caught a couple other decent ones and it probably would have made some fun footage with being towed around and having a shower each time I got them close.

Wicked Pike, can't imaging fighting that on a Kayak. Must be pretty darn stable to land her with out tipping. Congrats.

It would be so cool to capture a Pike like that on film. If you're interested just let me know!

Thats awesome - fav places to fish when you can find them mid lake or at least a ways off shore.

Nice work! I had a similar situation in my canoe a couple years ago. Nothing get the heart pounding like seeing a hog slam you lure and then be towed around while you bring her in.
