Check your regs before hitting the Red Deer. Closed until May 20 below the dam.

Freeman River between Fort Assin and Swan Hills. It doesn't open until June 1 I believe so Grayling can spawn.
Have not fished myself but have hunted the area and its a pretty little stream.

Default NSR and goldeye, pembina, shunda creek

I used to fish the NSR around Fort Sask when I lived up there. Dryfly for Goldeye is possible at times, and pound for pound are scrappier than most trout you'll hook.

I've taken goldeye and (believe it or not) the odd rainbow from the Pembina around Barrhead. NO ONe fished wout there.... it can clear in the summer some times.

Shunda creek is a little over 2 hours.... great small creek fishing.

there are some good holes on the south side of the river downstream between the rrgc and the bridge. the south side around the rhsa further downstream also contains good water.

Anyone wanna fly fish the nsr tomorrow? Pm or text me. I'm 14 and really enjoy fly fishing but my parents don't have the time to fish. My mom can drop me off.

a 9-12 inch chub would be a monster. i just stopped by the whitemud under the fox drive bridge and it is flowing pretty good. i need to practice with my new fly rod before i can try to catch anything.

This is not Calgary and area, and a guy has to practice his casting skills.

There a few of us that use small flies and nymphs for small little chub.

LMAO. Thanks for filling me in.

I avoid the west side like the plague lol. I'm a country boy, traffic and loud noises scare me. I'm afraid I've never wet a line in Edm even. Sounds like the west side lakes have taken a beating from a long winter. Might be more NSR pressure this year than norm if all the winter kill reports are true.
