Rossi model 62 stainless pump action. Last Saturday shot a gopher at 68 yards opens sites. Solid fun gun, also have a marlin 995 semi. Nice gun too.

Defender 12 gauge loaded with 7-1/2 works pretty good when you get a number of juvies on the same mound! 4-6 per shot if they are crowded at the opening to the burrow.. Effective YES.... BUT........not so sporting!

My '94 'Burban Gopher Vehicle has a variety of tools in the back! from the new CZ 455 Varmint .22LR under a 4x14 tactical, my old CIL/Anschutz 125 sporting an equally old Bushnell 4x12, the new CZ 455 .22Mag has a 6x24by50, and the CZ 527 in .223 has a 10x40 on top. Tried out an Outlaw SxS with 12' tubes yesterday! Loud but effective - used everything from #7 1/2 target loads to 2" shot, 1 5/8 oz 3" magnum loads. No gophers escaped! From 6 feet to over 60 paces! Very impressed with the tighter than expected pattern. Have two witnesses to a 62 paces two gopher kill with the 3" #2 LOAD! The shot walked up the rise like carpet bombing!
What do I prefer? Depends on the day and if I'm just spotting for friends or avenging my horse Dolly's broken leg from 53 years ago!
No sense going under armed to a gopher field!

My trusty Ruger 10/22 topped with a 3x9 Simmons. It has taken hundreds, and fired thousands of rounds.

My SquiresBingham .22 autoloader with a 25 round clip is my "go to" cheap gopher getter. Bought it brand new in '86, and its got a bazillion rounds through it.
But the most "spectacular result" gun is my Ruger M77 MkII in .204 topped with a Bushnell 5x15x42 elite 3200. Using 32gr Vmax bullets it turns gophers into nuclear pink clouds.
