Default Whats your gopher gun

Getting excited for another gopher season! Just figured it would be interesting to see what everyone uses as their gopher gun?

Default 10-22

I have two 10-22's. The old girl is a basic carbine model that I have had for 20 years and I bought a new laminate bull barrel stainless a couple of years ago. I couldn't even guess how many rounds have went through that carbine, still works well but it really starts to spray when there is lots of shooting

I'm in S. Ontario, but talk "gophers" with my buddy in Calgary nearly every day. He keeps threatening to invite more out there for a gopher shoot...but didn't have any luck finding numbers last year. His gopher gun of choice~Savage 93 TR in .17HMR, and a Remington XCR .223.

Too bad there wasn't a hunting exchange of some sort. I take someone groundhog hunting here...I get taken to a good gopher patch there! Not sure an Albertan with good gopher numbers would get that big of a thrill shooting at what amounts to a raccoon-sized gopher here. Especially since a 4-6 groundhog day is exceptional.

My favorite is my Sako Vixen in 222 Rem. It's my most accurate rifle and a lot of fund to shoot.

I've also dusted many gophers with my plain old 10/22.

Default gopher gun

I shoot a C Z 527 in .223.
Use 50 grain hollow point cast boolits ; not much more expensive than .22 ammo; but amazing results.

You can reload 50x .223 for $3?

I'm shooting the same combo as North American Hunter.

browning lever .22 for the curious ones, Savage BTVS .22lr 4.5-14x for the wise ones.

I use a super ugly savage GLV left hand pre accutrigger 17HMR. I have a cheap Vortex 4-12 crossfire scope on it. It sure works though.

H&R 17 HMR with 22" bull barrel Barska 6 x 18 x 50 mm scope. ZIP
TC Pro Hunter 204 with Bushnell 6 x 24 x 50 mm scope. SPLAT and VAPORIZE

I use a Browning .22 auto and a Savage BTVSS for shooting my field. The ones near the house I use a Beretta 20 gauge with target shot.
