2014 Alberta Trophy Antelope
An hour into opening Day and it was all over...after about a mile stock\belly crawl I made a nice humane kill behind the shoulder at 353 paces with the 240 wby mag and he was down.I'm really happy that I shot the Animal in a Alphalpa field, because the meat tastes amazing.
Roughly...Out of about 300 Antelope bucks I saw scouting this was about the 2nd biggest I Saw and the 3rd biggest I knew of.The numbers of the Antelope seemed decent in 3 0f 4 wmu's,however the vast majority of bucks were 2.5 years old, which made it tough to find mature bucks that had decent Horns....on a side note Wmu 124 had terrible antelope numbers compared to 5-7 years ago.
It was great having my dad with me ,who accompanied me on the stock and watched me drop the buck, and that I will remember and cherish more than anything!
Good luck to everyone this fall,WJ

Congrats! Looks like a nice one.
We filled our goat tags on day one and day two. The one I got was a long 6km plus spot and stalk in plus 28 degrees weather...I went and ruined a nice walk on the prairie by shooting one
Then the walk packing it out to the truck was long and warm! (Under statement).
The one my buddy got was a little bit better of an extraction and another exciting hunt.
Numbers were way down (which was expected but not realized HOW down they were), and we were targeting mature animals and they were few and far between.
116 tags handed out where we were....last year they handed out 7 I think! Landowners and hunters were all left dumbfounded. We had p12 and a p9 was enough we figured 10-30 tags max would be awarded. We put on thousands if scouting miles over 5 days before the season and saw maybe 10-15 decent bucks.
Land owners were absolutely wonderful folks and all wished us good luck and 99% gave us permission for foot access only which was great because not many folks were willing to walk.
Was a great hunt with many memories and the full "speed goat" experience.

Congrats to you aswell....The heat on day #1 was unreal, bar none the warmest october i've ever seen.
Hopefully in another 9-12 years when we get drawn again things are abit better and until then I got my share of antelope hunting for now.I close my eyes and all I can still see is brown, white and black after looking at so many of them through the spotting scope...lol

Wow!! That's a monster in my books. Wby strikes like lightening.
I never seen anything remotely close to that.
I got mine in102/118. All I could find was stressed out landowners over the trespassers. And who can blame them. I found an arrow in one feild within road range, picking a broad head out of a $1000 tractor tire isn't cool. No wonder they get upset, but met some top shelf landowners so it balanced out, like the boys at the foremost gas station!
I'm done with the antelope thing forever.
Another plus was seeing pheasants everywhere I walked and seen some country that I'm proud to is pure alberta gold.
