2012 was my best personal season, I shot a Musk ox, 51 inch moose, and a 162 inch whitetail. All personal bests for me.

2008 was a great year for me, took a really good boar griz in the spring and then called in a nice bull to 50 yards in the fall. A really good boar griz had been a long time goal for me so that made the whole year right there. I also got a decent whitetail and spent quite a bit of time predator hunting.

Finally figured out this photo embedding thing.

I have been kinda losing the drive when it comes to deer that lsat few seasons. Still out there and last yr I filled all my tags . This year havn't really tried too hard but am Trying to help my Son inlaw get his first. On the other hand I did much more bird hunting this year and I really enjoyed that .When it comes to birds this year was a good one

I guess mine would be 2011 (in terms of unique harvests):

- first archery black bear
- one incredible night harvesting 3 mule deer does in an hour with my bow.
- Grey Cup Sunday 165" archery whitetail.

but every Sep-Nov hunting with my bow is awesome!

All pics here

Thought I would revive an old thread...

This year is shaping up to be another good year and I hope many of you are enjoying the awesome weather we are having this fall getting out with friends and family.

I have been fortunate in getting out a lot this year and taking a trip with my Dad with us each harvesting two spring turkeys in Ontario, getting a cow elk with my bow, being in on an archery moose hunt with another member here, completing the requirements for the ABA small game award this past week with a duck by archery tackle, and having a great week of hunting southern Alberta antelope where another member and I were able to take a couple of good Alberta Trophy Antelope....

This one is shaping up to be a great season. Shoot straight and make it a season to remember.

This is an awsome thread!
I shot my first bull moose when I was 13. I was shaking with excitement so bad that I couldn't shoot. Good thing he stuck around and I managed to take some deep breaths and and make a good shot on him.

2013, got to hunt elk for the first time and I got my first mule buck tag and was also the year I started bowhunting. Got to call elk and moose in the rut with family and ended up shooting a wt and mule buck on the last day. This year is shaping up to be a pretty good year to, shot a grouse with my bow, shot my first couple peasants and shot some ducks and geese to. Now only if the elk and a few of the bucks on my cameras would cooperate lol

Ive had many great seasons but this year I got my first big game animal with a bow (3x3 whitetail buck) so this is the most memorable.

Can't say as I have had a favorite single season in particular. There are various seasons with various events that stick in the mind, though. Many with no pics ever taken or were before digital cameras. Seeing a friend's kid doing something for the first time, be it a bird or a four legged critter. Watching various dogs do their very first hunting season retrieves. Seeing unusual events out in the fields or woods, views from various places, seeing a great many places a great number of people will never see, or as I saw them at the time. Watching various animals doing weird and interesting things. Making first kills on birds and deer and moose and elk and yotes with bow and guns.
Spending time with friends and having some shared experiences.

My favorite season is whatever the one I'm enjoying at the point I am asked. I consider last season a real triumph though, it was tough hunting in my area, I put in around 20 days of hunting to finally hang a tag on a decent 4x4 on the last week. He wouldn't have scored very well, nowhere near a personal best, but he was 20" wide, I worked my butt off to get him, and I took him cleanly with a single shot while still hunting which is my favorite way. It was perfect.

I evaluate a season more on my performance, expended effort, and enjoyment of it than anything else and despite the modest horns I feel that I aced the 2013 season in all of these areas.

Oh admit it, more to do with the great guide you met that day than anything else!

Just looking through all these photos. Awesome thread!
I noticed something...

ISB doesn't have camo on in 1 photo!! but that black jacket has been around the world and back on your torso....

or did you take the camo off just for the pictures....

.

I think it was 93, my first full year shooting a long bow. A 345" Elk, A 155" Moose a bear scored a little over 20" and 160" whitetail......................won bow hunter of the year. Pics to prove as well but no digital cameras or phone cameras back then!!!!

But I will say that I have had plenty of excellent camps since then and all are memorable. Like shooting a bull the last evening of a two week hunt; 7 traditional hunters in camp and taking 7 animals, that was a good year. # traditional hunters in camp and taking 3 bull moose; shooting a moose out of a canoe; my son finally joining me in camp 4 years ago.....

2009 would be my most memorable. These last few years it's been up and down for me, still good quality game around but the experience has been going down hill, all I need to say is I don't go out opening week or weekends anymore due to high volume of a certain predator if you catch my drift...

This is a great thread!
I must admit that my best season so far was my first. It's hard to beat the excitement and rush that comes from harvesting your first buck! He was just a little spiker but that got me hooked.

My best season was in 1997 & I was unemployed. I had my general WT Deer tag but no money to hunt with except $20.00 for fuel. I told my wife we could use the meat & on the last day of the season with 1.5 hours left in the day & as I was heading back to the Van two does ran out of the bush & one stopped dead in front of me at 30 yards & I bagged her. Nice size one at that. We had some meat & then a little less than a month later I got a job & things turned around.

That deer provided food for the family.

I didn't personally but my hunting partner did from his stand about 50 yards from me while I was sitting in my ground blind, I couldn't see the moose from the lay of the land but I sure heard the arrow.
