I tie my own hooks aswell seems more stealthy then others. One on the bottom hoping for a sturgon and one about 2 feet up for anything else haha

Nothing fancy. I just tie my own snell hooks using gamakatsu #1 or 1/0 octopus hooks and 40lb berkley big game mono. And make my own fluro leaders.

go into the shallows and build a funnell out sticks pushed into the river bottom. place a 110 or 120 conibear into the opening. for those that dont want to spend that much time making a set, just put a gob of worms or minnows on the trigger. if there are big pike in the area, use a 160 conibear.

cool, didnt realize those were spinners, (laugh at me now) never tried them before, what species in the river do you have best success with those? Is the only difference with a bait rig and a lindy rig, the lindy rig swivel and a different hook?

BBJ, you casting those spinners upstream into the current or downstream with the current? Never thought of throwing those in the river, just don't want a huge tangled mess by throwing it wrong.

I only River fish for Walleye and Sturgeon , catch the odd sucker to though . But where I catch the suckers and Walleye is where I catch the sturgeon . I to actually use a different hook to but you get the idea . Its all about try try try until you perfect it . Ask Geezle and them guys , Ive taught them boys all the tricks Ive learned from over the years , doubt they'll share , but the key is your set up most definitely . And a proper setup really helps . I might get made fun of for running , Steel head gear but I dont care , I want to get that fish hooked , and released in a timely manor , not let em fight so I got to revive em for 20 minutes .

I rock salmon/steelhead gear on the river too...the only time I'll make fun of ya for it is when you try to use it in a boat!

I've also got a lot of fish out of the NSR on rattlin' raps, or similar lipless rattling cranks
