Premiere Lake BC

I am heading out there next week for some camping and if things go as planned was hoping to get an afternoon of fishing in. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions for fishing this lake? I have a small inflatable that I may take but would rather fish from shore. Is the shore fishing feasible or should I just take the boat?

Shore fishing is possible, but a boat would be preferable. This time of year, you may have to fish on the north side of the markers as they may be spawning. They have a fish ladder set up there on the south end of the lake and the fish tend to congregate in the south shallows. You'll see what I'm talking about when you get there. It's a very beautiful lake with a very well maintained campground. You can also go for a short drive from Premiere and fish Rockbluff lake. And make sure to hike up to Turtle lake as well, there's no fishing there, but lots of turtles too play with.

Don't know if they are open this time of year but later it is worth humping a BB up to Yankee and Canuck Lakes for some rainbows eager to take green halfbacks on a sinking fly line..also Quartz lake is a nice little lake for an inflatable..may need a 4x4 to get to it.

We tried shore fishing it last year - total and utter PITA. Take a boat.

Clambering along a 45 degree pitch slope along the sides of the (steep sided) lake, slipping down constantly into the water, climbing over trees, and when you finally get a spot (an hour, and only 200 meters later), there's nowhere to stand, and no room to get a decent enough backcast to get your lure out.

Friend took waders, and could only get out about 8ft before the water was up to his chest.

It's a beautiful lake, but I promise you - if you don't take the boat you will be kicking yourself all week.

Here's an idea though if you just like fishing from the shore. There are some good places to shore fish - but there's no way to easily get to them (unless you're Superman).

Take the boat, load it up, row your way along the lake until you find a nice shore spot (that you couldn't possibly get to on foot), park up, unload, and fish

My pleasure - I am definitely hoping to head back again to this place, but with a boat! It's jaw-drop beautiful, and the water is crystal clear. Take fluro for leaders.

I hear there are lake trout in that lake... Can anyone confirm if there is lakers in that lake?

• Bull Trout
• Westlope Cutthroat Trout
• Steelhead trout
• Kokanee
• White Sucker
• Longnose Sucker
• Tench
• Redside Shiner
