Default Renewed interest in recurve hunting

When I was younger I enjoyed target shooting my recurve and now that I am back hunting I thought I would give archery a go again.

I have been out of the game for a while so thought I'd ask here;

What is the best recurve brand / model on the market? Hoyt?

will be used for stand hunting to 30-ish yards
Has to be able to be broken down
Not too worried about cost

Thanks all!!

Default Recurves

If you're looking at a Hoyt you'll be happy with it, Martin Savannah is another good off the rack bow. Really most modern recurves will fit the bill. Dennis at get r done sells good entry level bows and he know his stuff.

He also sells custom bows and has the German Bearpaw brand with a 30 year transferable warranty.

If you take a look thru my reviews it may also help you.

Default Recurve bow

The Hoyt Buffalo or Tiburon are nice bows but close to 1K but super easy to remove limbs (ILF) system, there Dorado is also very popular. There are quite a few Chekmate take down bows around probably closer to $500 depending on if new etc.

RoscoeP:None of those bows are ILF. You can convert ILF limbs to use on them, but ILF limbs will not just snap on these risers.

Default Bow

JW I have a mint shape, barely used Bob Lee Custom takedown for sale. If interested PM me. Bob invented the take down bow in early 60's I believe when he owned Wing Archery and Pope & Young club commissioned him to make a commemorative bow for P&Y 50th anniversary couple years ago so its a top end recurve

Just curious who you're getting the Hoyt Buffalo from? I'm interested in one as well but haven't found anyone who carries them locally.

I tried one at Calgary archery centre and also heard that Jim bows can get them in.

Mine was an eBay item for quite a bit less than both of the above.
