Default Model 94 win 30-30 manufactured in 1898

A friend of mine recently got a model 94 win on a trade. It has long full octagon barrel and serial number 38384. Manufactured in 1898. I would say in poor to fair condition. The worst part about it is the saddle ring has been ground off. Would this rifle have any value?

Poor condition won't have much value for collectors. If the bore is decent and rifle is mechanically sound it has value as a shooter.

Sounds like it’s a wall hanger to me. Unless it’s sentimental.

To take it out hunting is risky especially with older wood and springs and parts inside. Risk for them to fail is there.

No collector value, far too many available in really good shape and 30-30 was the most common caliber back in the day. They are however great old guns for shooting. I have a 94 made in 1897 in 38-55 that is completely original and it shoots just fine. As shooters they are worth 4-650 bucks depending on how rough/good they are. IF something breaks, no problem, parts are real easy to get.
