Default Great Bear Lake NWT - Monster Lake Trout

My Buddy in Wpg sent me a pic today of his friend Robyn, who's a guide with Plummers.

I made two trips to this Lodge, what an experience, I understand the current estimated cost for a 1 week adventure to Trophy Lodge is approx. $5000 US, FOB Yellowknife, plus plus plus, est. $8000. plus exchange .... but if you caught one this size or bigger .... priceless!

Unofficial weight was 69lbs!

Same fellow a few years ago with one just over 60.

Is it just me or does that big Lake Trout have bite marks on the top of it behind its head?

There must be absolute Monsters in some of those lakes way up North. There is obvious proof with caught fish in the 70 pound range so it wouldn't surprise me one bit if a 100+ pound fish exists.

Those scratch marks on the back look like Mr. Eagle or Ms. Osprey were trying to pick up that fellow.

Thank you very much for these pictures.

Might not be quite Bear lake material. But there's some whales in AB to be caught.

Nope, not at all ... however, from what our guide told us that 60 lb Laker is over a 100 years old & that's not a fish story!

Excellent pictures.

Back in the day a 102 lb. lake trout was taken in a net in Great Bear. It was neither male nor female, people figured that is why it got so big.

It amazes me that no one fishes for innconnu up there. They go to 60-70 lbs. too.

Came from lake athabasca. Way more bang for your buck on that lake then great bear or slave. .. Lac La Marte is better too.

Regarding the 102 lb. laker I stand corrected. It was from Lake AthaB. There is a replica in the Ft. Macmurray museum.
