Should be some sort of penalty for the guy that pulls the trigger
Maybe not financially but something like your ineligible for draws for 3-5 years or something like that. That would get my attention more than a fine

I wasn’t aware NR Canadians could apply for the Alberta goat draw ?

And the only animal in BC you technically need an Outfitter for as a NR Canadian is sheep. Basically the same as Alberta really, other then our whole two NR Canadian sheep tags that may or may not actually get used.

Not sure goat either but I know they can for antelope which is a minimum 9 year wait and the 438 437 which 99% of residents will never pull. Guess like the old saying goes can’t beat them join em.

Are you sure about this , I will have to open the draw booklet and see ? Right now I really doubt this is the case because its a once in a lifetime tag.

No sheep there. They don’t like going in that far. Sheep prefer the easier walk closer to the highway.

I know I do too! Don't have horses, but I have looked at that mountain range before and wondered what the population densities are out there, and if it would be worth a try.

During his goat class they told him that the season would likely close in that zone next year due to low numbers. We hunted it on three different trips seen over 20 nannies and kids but no billies. We did not shot a nannie because we would want to close the season for the next year. We did however kill a ram. The season closed the next year due to the count, not some meat stick shooting a nanny.

That’s great he didn’t shoot a nanny, but others have. And that’s why the other zones are closed.
I know the guys that have packed in two of the hunters that shot nannies closing the zones they hunted in. So no, I’m not talking out of my ass, that’s the reality.

It’s too bad you didn’t ask for help with the goats on here, although not always easy to find area H was by far the easiest goat hunt in Alberta.
It would have only taken a few days to get your hunting partner a billy, if you know where to look.

Lol if you don’t think we did are homework you are sadly mistaken. There are goats in henretta, the blood root, castle and lama. The problem is guys see a goat from the valley floor and say “theres a nice billy”. Untill you spend hours watching the to see if they squat to pee or streach out.( the only true way for a positive id on a billie). You do relize hammel isn’t in zone H? I can’t imagine you offering a lot of insite on any of the ranges you cannot ride a quad to the top of.

Right. Because when I told the guy at the beginning of this thread where to go and how to access the goats, it’s because I rode a quad 60 km’s into Wilmore and then had my own hillclimb event up the mountain with my Honda.
I never said you didn’t do your homework, I just meant after living here for 20 years I’ve seen a few miles of that country.
Once you’ve looked at more then a dozen goats, you can tell by their horns if it’s a billy or not. At least I can anyway. Maybe not a dink but certainly one I’d shoot.
Since you have no clue where I’ve been, or how I got there you may want to reserve your judgement. I’ve helped a lot of people on this forum on a lot of hunts. Insulting somebody isn’t generally a great way to learn something that may help you or somebody you know down the road.
