Default Sharing Some Flies I've Tied.

I saw others sharing some fly patterns so I thought I'd share some of what I've done so far. I started tying last March after I broke my knee cap, I wanted to learn how to fly fish anyway. I guess I just got the cart before the horse so to speak! LOL! Turned out ok because I found a good mentor over the summer who taught me a lot about the art of fly fishing . But I have a long ways to go yet!. I wish I could have started this 20 yrs ago!...The best part of tying is to catch fish with your own flies! That really makes me smile!

Here's a few of the patterns I've tied:

Very nice work on them flies. It's been 20 years since I tied some myself. I have almost every type materials and some imitation material to tie most any flies. Well over 1k spent so far. More of an addiction. Back in November I picked up couple hundred dollars worth in hooks, wire, foam, beads. I have yet to use any of it yet...

What dubbing do you use for the scuds.

Not a negative but i tie half of my pheasant tail with flash wrapping instead of using the pheasant in murky water and when the fish aren't super active it helps I've found.but great ties I've been at it for 6 years now and taken a few courses and you are already better than me!

For scuds I make my own blend of dubbing using hare's and diamond dub mixing the colors. Those scuds work really well.

Thanks for the compliment. If you start tying go on YouTube and just search for beginner tying instruction and you will be amazed at all the videos out there of very comprehensive instruction on tying flies! That's how I started. It's a lot of fun, and best of all you get to try them out! There is a certain satisfaction attached to catching a fish with a fly you've tied, or maybe it's just me!
