Sounds like they need a case called ifloat.
Should start a AO phone fishin' derby.
Good luck with your aquatic adventure.

Already been suggested, but I keep a small super strong magnet in my ice fishing tackle box for retrieving hooks. not sure if it'd work on a phone but it might! If it has magnetic parts, it'll grab from 3" away, and its quite a struggle to get the magnet off after that.

I dont think magnets and data storage go well together, but thats only on magnetic storage, i dont know how modern phones work though... are cards magnetic?

Well I just tried my Blackberry against an earth magnet on the fridge. I have heard of people using those big magnets to recover lost auger flytes. My blackberry stuck to the magnet. Use a magnet on a rope to recover. Stuck to the battery pretty good. Hey they are only $3.50. http://www.princessauto.com/pal/Magn...gnet/8158982.p

Many Many years ago we were in a hut on Lake Erie and by the end of the day you clearly see sitting on the bottom of the lake in about 8 ft of water, a bottle opener ( remember those?) , the jack of spades and my buddy's watch. When the shack operator came out on his sled to pick us up he pulled out a huge magnet and salvaged the watch...good luck

i always have a very small, very powerfull magnet called a "chic" magnet attached to a spool of post string line. find it very handy and has pulled out many a bell, knive and pliers from the depths. another good magnet is one from an old speaker. larger, heavier and very powerfull.

Whenever a hard drive crashed when my father had a computer company I would take it apart and steal the magnet from inside. They are pretty stong aswell.

Dropped my phone into Sylvan two yrs ago. Got two ice fishing rods and tied a magnet to the line of one and my big ice scoop to the other. The magnet wasn't strong enough to lift the phone but did attract it enough so that I could flip the phone into my ice scoop and then just reeled it up. Took the battery out and then put both phone and battery into a bucket of rice overnight. Phone was like new the next day! The phone was in about 6-8 feet of water.

You should punch a bunch of holes together big enough to fit a net in with exstention and scoop it up that's how I got mine last year out of jack fish

This is the magnet i carry with me also. It's unbelievable how strong it is. Can't get stuff off without a pry-bar sometimes.

Hey Labrador1... we're on the edge of our seats! Did you get your phone back?
I hope you didn't cut one of those giant holes and go swimming for it!

I think odds of finding it now are nearly zero. Even if your GPS could get you within 10 feet, it'd still be quite difficult to find now. I think you'd have to recover it that same day, or you'd never be able to find it again. But good luck! Hope it works out for you!

This, even if your gps can get you back within a few feet it will be hard to spot the phone depending on bottom conditions.

Well it was an interesting trip to the lake, it didn't look the greatest, there was some melting and freeze at night, so we could hardly stand up it was so slippery. Got out there, found the spot. The holes were barely visible, but with some struggle, drilling through a week old ice fishing hole, finally got the auger through. Powered the cam up with the battery pk, lowered it I and WOW spotted the white phone case right away!!!! The boy was pretty excited, I had the cam rigged so it pointed almost straight down, in trying to adjust the cam and clamp it so I can see the phone,,,,, the cable slipped and landed on the phone and it sank down in the mud/silt!!!!!!!! Could hardly believe that just happened, spent a half hour searching,,, nothing! Very disappointed!!! image.jpg
