I think your best method at this time of year is nymphing. Try using a San Juan Worm and a dropper fly such as a Prince Nymph, Gold Ribbed Hare's Ear, or Pheasant Tail Nymph. The key to this kind of fishing is mending your line properly so that your flies are bouncing along the bottom of the river.

Option B would be streamer fishing using a Wooly Bugger, Bow River Bugger, etc. A sink tip line can be helpful for this style of fishing on a larger river such as the Bow.

Yup, this time of year it's mostly nymphing unless you are lucky enough to catch a midge or bwo hatch on the warmer days. San Juans, prince nymphs, caddis larvae imitations (eg. green rock worms etc.), evil weevil nymphs, and tung stud nymphs are all good winter patterns. Make sure you use extra weight if needed to get them down to the bottom as the trout don't move very far to take your flies in the winter.

Few ways to think of it. If the trout are feeding, you're going to want to use the smaller winter things (small princes, caddis, hares ears, chironomids etc) If you really cant break the code on what they're eating, and small-medium sized rubber legged stone paired with a san juan will usually do the trick.

You will need to recognize winter water, which is very different from the usual summer holding areas.

Weather is looking good for this weekend. So i'll probably make the trip.

With the colder weather the fish have moved into their wintering holes. Slower deep stretches. Chinooks will bring them out to other areas but most presentations should be slow and deep. Previously mentioned flies are all good if fished right, I also like the lightening bug this time of year. In a couple of months we should start to see the small winter stones moving.

In winter iv had my best days on streamers, I used to fish the bow a on in winter and have found that they tend to hide right behind rocks on sunny days pickin off midges. A big streamer will fool the browns.
Cast it tight to Shore and strip it in, it's really fun to watch a brown turn around in a blizzard for one of these haha. I also like running a trailer boatman behind these if I'm swinging because you get the odd rainbow or white.
Clousers with oversized weights
OversiZed leeches
Oversized woolly buggers
Bring some kind of sinking line-I used floating line that doesnt float

Thumbs up

Besides the ones already mentioned, I've had pretty good luck with a couple different ice cream cone chironomids ...
